Carbon Neutral Future

An emissions figure is worth what you do with it next.

CNF carries out life cycle assessment, EPD, corporate inventory and CBAM work across carbon, water and energy, on a process engineering footing. We build the calculation, show which process step the result comes from, and weigh reduction options both technically and financially.

Where a product's carbon footprint arises

Illustrative breakdown

Raw materials 58% REDUCTION POTENTIAL CONCENTRATES HERE Energy 22% Transport 11% Packaging 6% End of life 3%
In many products more than half of the impact sits on the raw material side. Seeing that takes a life cycle model; lowering it takes process knowledge.

Services

Six areas of work

Carbon, water and energy are handled through a single life cycle view. One product model feeds an EPD, a corporate inventory feeds a reduction programme, and an energy and mass map underpins both efficiency and emissions projects.

01

Life Cycle Assessment and EPD

Product models compliant with ISO 14040/44 and EN 15804, EPD preparation and management of the verification process.

  • Cradle to gate and cradle to grave boundaries
  • Archetype selection across product families
  • Integration of supplier declarations into the model
  • Comparative scenario analysis

04

Energy, Carbon Reduction and Process Improvement

The work that begins where the calculation ends. Energy and mass flows across the site are mapped, consumption concentrations are identified, and reduction options are compared on technical feasibility and capital cost.

  • Energy and mass flow mapping (value stream mapping)
  • Significant energy users identified through regression analysis
  • Heat recovery, material substitution, efficiency measures
  • Prioritisation by payback period

05

Water Efficiency and Water Footprint

A water balance is built for the site, consumption points and losses are identified, and savings potential is quantified against best available techniques.

  • Water balance and consumption point analysis
  • Assessment against sector best available techniques
  • Savings potential and investment prioritisation
  • ISO 14046 water footprint, ISO 46001 water efficiency management system

Training

Programmes designed so that the organisation can carry this work with its own people.

  • ISO 14064-1 and GHG Protocol workshops
  • Applied CBAM reporting training
  • Life cycle assessment fundamentals
  • In-house and open enrolment formats

Why CNF

Filling in the report and lowering the emissions are not the same job.

Much of sustainability consulting is built around declaration and reporting. The calculation is run, the report is delivered, the file is closed. CNF goes one step further, to the process the number came from. That is where the difference starts.

Data collection Model build Results and reporting Hotspots and reduction scenarios Investment decision Reporting-led work ends here CNF continues from here
The five steps of a carbon, energy or water study. A reporting-led approach completes at the third.

01

Process based engineering

The team running the work comes from engineering. During data collection the process itself is read, so when a result appears you can trace which stream and which conversion it came from.

02

The person who quotes the job runs it

Senior people are on site. Technical decisions are not delegated; whoever sits in the meeting is whoever builds the model.

03

Recognised standards and tools

We are an Ecochain official partner and models are built on the Ecoinvent database. Work follows ISO 14040/44, ISO 14064-1, EN 15804 and the GHG Protocol.

04

Capability that stays in house

By the end of a project the organisation knows how the work was built and can run the next reporting period with its own people. Permanent consulting dependency is not the aim.

CNF treats life cycle assessment not as a separate service, but as the methodological backbone behind everything it offers.

Working across borders

Three ways organisations reach us

01

Manufacturers exporting to the EU

Producers based in Türkiye who have to declare embedded emissions under CBAM, publish an EPD, or answer a customer sustainability questionnaire. The work is done in Turkish on site and delivered in English.

02

European buyers and brands

Procurement and sustainability teams who need primary data from a supplier in Türkiye rather than a spend based estimate. We collect it at the installation, document the method, and hand over something a verifier can follow.

03

Direct engagements abroad

Life cycle, energy and water work for organisations outside Türkiye. Models are built on Ecoinvent and internationally recognised standards, so the output travels.

Three studies

Metal and foundry

81.9% lower

Recycled input scenario

For a brass alloy product, the scrap heavy raw material mix the organisation actually uses was compared against a hypothetical scenario in which every metallic input came from primary material. The production process was held constant across both; the only variable was the source of the raw material. The difference in global warming potential came out at this level, and the result became the technical justification for the sourcing decision.

Recycling and recovery

Avoided impact per stream

The environmental value of recovery

Across eight waste streams, paper and board, plastic, iron, electronic waste, mixed metals, wood, aluminium and textile, we calculated the environmental impact avoided when recovered material displaces primary production. Avoided carbon, energy and water saved, and primary resource recovered come out separately for each stream. The organisation can report these figures to its own customers as the value of the waste it collects.

Installation data instead of default values

For manufacturers exporting to the European Union, the embedded emissions methodology is set up at installation level, precursor supply chain data is collected, and a reporting routine capable of carrying the declaration is put in place. Using installation data rather than default values lowers both the declared emissions and the certificate cost that follows.

The cost gap between default values and installation data

In the definitive CBAM period the first declaration and certificate surrender falls on 30 September 2027. Where installation data is not supplied, default values apply and feed straight into certificate cost.

Let us define the scope together.

In a thirty minute introductory call we can work out where the boundaries of the job sit, how much of the data you already hold, and a realistic budget range.

What we cover

  • Which regulation binds you, and by what date
  • Scope: how many products, how many sites, which boundaries
  • How much of your existing data is usable
